Scrapbooks (2 v.) and ca. 45 other items relating to John Patrick McGoorty's career as a lawyer, Illinois state representative (Democrat), and anti-corruption judge, and to personal and family matters. Scrapbook one contains photographs (ca. 30) and award certificates (1892-1953); scrapbook two contains newsclippings on his work as a defense counsel in the 1893 trial of Patrick Prendergast for the murder of Chicago Mayor Carter Harrison and on McGoorty's service in the Illinois General Assembly, 1898-1899.
